The Jasmine Bar

A Cultural Floral Experience

Jasmine flowers have always held a special place in South Indian culture. Known for their delicate beauty and unforgettable fragrance, they are often worn during weddings, celebrations, and meaningful cultural moments. More than just a flower, jasmine represents tradition, femininity, and connection. Growing up, jasmine flowers were always something I associated deeply with our culture and the traditions my parents worked hard to carry with them, even though they were rooted back home in Sri Lanka.

With that in mind, I wanted to create something that not only felt beautiful, but also meaningful. That’s where the idea of the Jasmine Bar came from. I thought about how I could incorporate something so traditional into a modern event setting in a way that guests could actually experience and enjoy.

The Jasmine Bar is designed as an interactive floral station where guests can receive or create their own jasmine accessories to wear. Whether it’s wrapped into hair pieces, or small floral accents, it becomes more than just decor – it becomes something personal. It allows guests to feel connected to the culture while also being part of the celebration in a unique way.

At weddings, this becomes especially meaningful. It transforms jasmine from something that is simply worn by a few into something shared by everyone. It becomes a gift from the bride and groom to their guests – something they can wear, experience, and remember. As discussed in this article on cultural wedding traditions, incorporating meaningful cultural elements into weddings can create a deeper emotional connection for both the couple and their guests. That is exactly what the Jasmine Bar is meant to do.

From a design perspective, the Jasmine Bar is styled to feel soft, elegant, and cohesive with the event. Whether paired with modern decor or traditional elements, it blends seamlessly while still standing out as something unique. Inspired by evolving trends seen in modern wedding floral experiences, I wanted to create something that bridges both tradition and contemporary design.
